Detailed Programme for Outdoor Academy
Dear participants of Outdoor Academy of Sweden, June 10-14:th.
It is soon time to visit the very north of Sweden, Swedish Lapland and we really look forward seeing you there. We have now updated the Programme and the Equipmentlist for all of you. Shortly you will receive information regarding your flight to Sweden.
Programme Outdoor Academy of Sweden 2009
June 10:th
Individual flights to Stockholm
21:10 Departure with SAS to Kiruna (Terminal 4)
23.35 Arrival in Kiruna
24.00 Transfer by bus to Jukkasjärvi (the village where the IceHotel is situated)
Accommodation in cabins (shared rooms)
June 11:th
7.00-8.00 Breakfast at Jukkasjärvi “Värdshus” (inn)
8.00-9.00 Welcome/Tour information/Equipment information
9.30 Hand-out of equipment
10.00 Bus to Nikkaluokta (1.5 hour)
12.00 Information about Nikkaluokta, the Sami culture and lifestyle
13.00 Lunch
Trekking/Horseback riding (5 km) in mixed groups
Building the campsite
Outdoor dinner by the beautiful lake of Ladtjojaure
Accommodation in Tentipis
June 12:th
7.00-8.00 Outdoor breakfast (make a sandwich for lunch to bring on the trek)
8.30 Boat ride 6 km
Trekking to Kebnekaise Mountain Lodge (8 km) with short briefings about navigation, flora and fauna etc during the trek
Light lunch along the way
13.00 Separate workshop for tour operators and retailers.
Press can choose to be part of one of the workshops or try climbing.
19.00 Dinner
Midnight trek (short)
Accommodation in Tentipis for retailers and others who has chosen it. The others sleep indoors at Kebnekaise Mountain Lodge.
June 13:th
7.30-8.30 Breakfast, make lunch package and fill the thermos for the trek
Trekking back to Ladtjojaure (8 km) in different groups
Boat ride
Trekking/Horseback riding (5 km) to Nikkaluokta
Lunch during the trek
Bus to Jukkasjärvi/Ice Hotel (1.5 h)
16.30 We will visit the spectacular Ice factory
17.00 The wood-burning sauna by the old homestead is warm
17.00-19.00 Equipment return
19.30 Dinner at Old Homestead Restaurant
Accommodation in Jukkasjärvi
June 14:th
7.00-8.00 Breakfast
8.00-11.00 Rafting on the Torne River
11.00 Coffee/tea break
11.30 Bus pick-up for transfer to the airport
12.45 Flight departure to Stockholm and onward.
